Catherine Tresa (born 10 September 1990) is a South Indian actress, who has acted in KannadaMalayalam and Telugu films.






Early life

Catherine Tresa Alexander was born to Malayalam Roman Catholic parents Frank Mario Alexander and Tresa Alexander who had settled down in Dubai. She finished her high school in Dubai, during which she was an active member in extra-curricular activities learning to play piano and participated in singing, dancing, ice-skating, debating, choir etc. She was academically good and believes that she is “good at anything I put my mind to”. 
In Dubai, Catherine was an Emirates Environment volunteer too. At the age of 14, Catherine did some amateur modelling for fashion design graduate students too. She is trained in Hindi, Arabic, Malayalam and French. She did her Grade twelve in Dubai and in 2007, moved to Bangalore for further studies.

Career as a Model

Catherine was offered modelling work again, and went on to do some ramp shows for Prasad Bidapa.

Film career

She was offered her first role in Kannada, opposite Duniya Vijay in the film Shankar IPS, which was released in 2010. Though the movie was an average success, Catherine got enough attention. Soon she signed another film in Malayalam, opposite Prithvi Raj in Thriller which was her second release in 2010. She signed her next Kannada film Godfatheropposite Upendra, which was directed by cinematographer turned filmmaker Sethu Sriram. Catherine won her first nomination for an award in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in the film (10). Catherine was offered to play the role of a bold girl in Telugu filmmaker Neelakanta’s Chammak Challo. 
The movie was released in February 2013. APHerald.com called her “a treat to watch” and 123telugu.com noted that “she has the potential to be a superstar in future if she plays her cards right”. In the meantime, Catherine also signed a Telugu movie Paisa, in which she plays a conservative Muslim girl Noor opposite Nani. The movie, directed by Krishna Vamsi, is yet to be released (as of August 2013). However, Iddarammayiltho, 
a movie directed by Puri Jagannadh, in which she was paired opposite Allu Arjun along with Amala Paul The movie was released in June, 2013 and won her rave reviews. Times of India reported that “Catherine 
Tresa perfectly suits the character of Akanksha”. Shirirag.com called her “cigarette smoking hot”  while Idlebrain Jeevi in his review of the film noted that “with a bit of fine-tuning she can become big in Telugu films”. She was also noted for her dancing skills  too. Catherine Tresa was offered a role in Ramcharan’s film which was to be directed by Koratala Siva. However the movie was called off. It is now rumoured that Catherine has been offered her first Tamil film opposite Karthi, and a film opposite Ravi Teja in Telugu in the direction of Y.V.S Chowdary.
